It might have been 20 years since Sex and the City first aired, but it remains a TV show that we can't quite get enough of — proved by the recent explosion of the Instagram account @everyoutfitonsatc. Some of the outfits on the show might raise eyebrows now — there's the time Carrie wore a belt over her bare abs and who can forget her pinstripe pedal pusher suit she wore to go dog walking. However many of Carrie's favourite trends have re-emerged for 2018, including strappy stiletto sandals, slip dresses and silly (but fabulous) handbags. We re-created 7 of her most iconic looks, from the tulle skirt she wore in Paris to her 'Le French Fry' dress, to show how you can dress like Carrie without looking like you've forgotten the day of Halloween.
Isabel, Who What Wear's Associate Social Media Editor says: "I went for this look because I think it sums up her perfect ability to mix high and low. Lingerie and a fabulous embroidered robe? Of course it still works, it's comfortable and makes you feel totally outrageous. To me, it's quintessential Carrie."
Hannah Almassi, Who What Wear UK's Editorial Director, says: "This look is not me at all, but I thought if we're recreating Carrie Bradshaw's style someone had to wear a tutu. I actually loved how the floaty skirt looks with the clean cut blazer, and think it's a perfect alternative wedding look."
Alyss Bowen, Byrdie's Assistant Social Media Editor, says: "Catch me on any given day and chances are, I'm in a dress. Which is why I naturally gravitated towards Carrie in this green checkered beauty when she goes to Church with Mr Big. I switched things up a bit and went for a wrap by Stine Goya to make it more 2018, and skipped out on the gloves because, well we're experiencing a heatwave right now and gloves won't suffice. It's the perfect wedding guest outfit and would even look cute with white trainers."
Luisa Orlandi, Who What Wear UK's Marketing and Partnerships Manager, says: "I thought I’d go all or nothing for my Carrie outfit. It’s so far from my usual style but there’s definitely ways I could work the tartan skirt into an every day outfit. The logo handbag trend has come full circle, and I'm really into this mini Fendi baguette."
Emma, Who What Wear's Deputy Editor, says: "Ok so the McDonald's bag is just to be silly, but Carrie's 'Le French Fry' outfit is actually pretty classic. I wouldn't choose to wear a beret in a heatwave, but come September I might consider wearing this outfit without the lunch bag.'
Shannon Peter, Deputy Editor of Byrdie, says: "I know Carrie is all about colour, but this super pared-back look has to be one of my faves. The straight, mid-length dress isn't too dissimilar to a few slip dresses I already have in my summer wardrobe but the bag just gives it that Carrie quirk."
Joy Montgomery, Who What Wear UK's Acting Assistant Editor, says: "This isn’t a look I would usually go for IRL, but there was something very 2018 about the combination of luxe silk mini (in a very of-the-moment shade of vivid green) and masculine shirting. Although I love these Lucy Choi kitten heels, I can also see myself wearing this look with a pair of box fresh trainers for dress down Fridays."
