Yesterday the cast of Oceans 8 commenced their promotional tour, and one photo call in, it is lining up to be one of the most stylish events in film history. That might sound hyperbolic, but just wait until you see the pictures. At the New York photo call at the Met Museum the women wore impeccable outfits, looking like our trends report come to life. Emily Blunt wore a polka dot midi skirt with a black ruffled blouse with a white pointed collar. Then came the jumpsuits: Awkwafina wore a black high-necked suit with a cut-out at the stomach, while Sandra Bullock wore a grassy green one shoulder Elie Saab jumpsuit. Anne Hathaway wore head-to-toe white in a pair of wide-leg trousers with a matching zip-front sleeved top. Mindy Kaling proved that a black dress is never boring, wearing a Stella McCartney robe-style dress with beaded embellishment.
However the one outfit that really stood out for me was Cate Blanchett's purple suede Salvatore Ferragamo trouser suit with a white blouse with statement cuffs, red clashing high heel shoes and brash gold jewellery. As the The Daily Mail observed, this is in fact Austin Powers' signature look. I never thought I'd say this — but his outfit is something I'd actually like to buy for myself. Colourful, luxurious trouser suits are having a moment right now, especially thanks to the Chloe brown horse-emboidered velvet suit that was a big street style hit at fashion week.
My only question is, where is Rihanna?
