Though they may have been fictional characters, the BFFs rocked plaid with matching blazer jackets, silk slip dresses and button-down minis like nobody we’d seen before—or, arguably, ever since (sorry, Blair Waldorf).

While living out their final year of high school as super-wealthy teens in 1990s America—house parties in classic Alaia, date nights in new-season Calvin Klein—both Cher and Dionne gave us life with their feminist sass, cool wardrobes and an inevitably futile makeover of “new girl on the block,” Tai. Fast-forward to 20 years later, and not only is Clueless still one of the best fashion films ever, but we’d totally still wear every one of Cher’s best looks.
